HELP WIDOWS, ORPHANS AND HOMELESS IN AFRICA

Sub-Saharan Africa is home to millions of orphans who have lost one or both parents due to HIV/AIDS, conflict, and other causes. These children are often left without adequate care, education, or protection, making them vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.
Statistics: According to UNICEF, there are over 52 million orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa. Of these, approximately 12 million have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, leaving them particularly vulnerable to poverty, neglect, and discrimination.

Challenges: Orphans in Africa often face a lack of access to education, healthcare, and psychological support. Many live in poverty, and those who are not placed in supportive homes may end up as “street children,” exposed to violence, exploitation, and trafficking.

Statistics: According to the World Health Organization, there are an estimated 258 million widows worldwide, with a significant portion living in Sub-Saharan Africa. These women often face economic hardship, social stigma, and isolation.

Challenges: Widows in Africa often struggle to provide for their children, facing barriers to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The stigma attached to widowhood can lead to social isolation, making it difficult for widows to access the support they need.
Homelessness is a growing crisis in Africa, particularly in urban areas where rapid population growth, poverty, and inadequate housing contribute to the problem. Homeless individuals, including children, are often forced to live on the streets, where they face violence, exploitation, and severe health risks.
Statistics: It is estimated that over 70 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa are homeless or live in inadequate housing conditions. The number of street children is also alarmingly high, with estimates suggesting that there are millions of children living on the streets across the continent.
